Because staffing agencies generally contract with a wide range of different employers, during the initial interview process be prepared to answer questions which deal more with your general abilities and skills rather than specifics. These questions may include things like computer and office skills, multi-tasking abilities and proper business etiquette.

Other information normally garnered include personal observation questions concerning what you believe to be your biggest strengths and weaknesses. You will also be asked about personal accomplishments, standard questions about your past employment, your future goals and what type of position you hope to secure. It is important that you don’t speak disparagingly about any previous employers no matter what the circumstances. Rather emphasize your strengths and discuss any skills that in past positions may have been underutilized.

You will also be asked why you are using a staffing agency, especially if you have a very specific field of study or professional background. When interviewing, it is important to be as truthful as possible. None of these questions are being asked to make you feel uncomfortable but rather to ensure the staffing agency is promoting your skills to corporations which are a good professional fit.

Money is always an important consideration and again, it is imperative to be honest about your expectations. If the salary you are expecting is out of line for your qualifications, the interviewer will discuss a more reasonable amount and assist you in determining the next step.

The last key step in how to interview with a staffing agency is to make sure your communication skills are polished and professional. The interviewer will be analyzing everything from the tone of your voice to your body language during the interview process.
